Does anyone know if the Sefardi Hechsher Machpud is OK for Ashkenazim to eat? The restaurant Cafe Rimon in Jerusalem is now Machpoud and I want to eat there. Is it better or worse then Agudah?
Is Machpud Hechsher good?
1 answer!
Rav Shlomo Machpud, shlita is unquestionably an accomplished Talmid Chacham. He is close with all the Gedolei HaDor. He is a par excellence shochet of all kosher animals. Because of Rav Machpud's extensive learning and experience, he has taught others and has also kosher slaughtered animals that no one else is accustomed with as they have no messorah. His hashgacha is of high standard. All Mehadrin!!!
Agudah used to be a respected hashgacha some 25 years ago when other more respected Rabbonim and Machshirim were involved in the hashgacha. Agudah / Rabbanut are the same "WEAK" hashgacha. The yeshiva and over all more right-wing religious community DO NOT use Rabbanut/ Aguda products as they are NOT Mehadrin.
Ashkenazim can eat any product that Rav Machpud puts his hechsher on without any hesitation.
FYI: Sephardim do not dilute their wines like Eida HaCharedit. Sephardim preferably do not use Yayin Mevushal (cooked wine.)
