I sometimes wonder that since the whole point of a fast is the fact that it is supposed to bring us to Teshuva, well nowadays we just about manage to focus on getting through the day normally, let alone start thinking about repenting. Do you think that if Chazal were around they would be mevatel the fast so that we would be able to focus more on learning and our davening?
If Chazal were around do you think they would still make us fast?

If Moshe Rabeinu was around do you think he would email Hashem that we would (I quote:)
be able to focus more on learning and our davening
if we would be able to eat on Yom Kippur?
Of course not because that is what Hashem wants of us.
