See this question here ( and my own answer (and it wouldnt hurt to recieve an upvote or two) )which inspired me to ask this question. Some names in the times of the Gemoro and Tanach have become extinct? Can you name some and perhaps give reasons why?

I know someone who just named his son saadyah, so maybe things are coming back! But do you know any hai's? or rava's? Amos? chabakuk? Tzefaniah? chagai?
Nice ones, but Rava isnt a name. It is a nickname meaning Rebbe. As is Ravina, for Rabbiner! Like Rav, Rebbi and Rabbah! - shteeblehopperAug 02 '12 at 11:25
