Are there any disadvantages with learning from a blue artscroll?

I want to start learning Daf HaYomi with the Blue Artscroll which has a hebrew transalation. The reason I am not using the red one is because I find if I read it in English then I dont have to work hard and therefore wont remember it. Are there any Chisronois learning from such a Sefer, ie have they been checked over to make sure they are all correct?

No, all Artscroll Gemoras are carefully checked to make sure they are correct.

artscroll is a crutch. some people need it and some ppl don't. you will definitely sharpen your skills and head more if you don't use it, but it will be easier if you do. in general, artscroll is an extraordinary company, and i know for a fact that only yirei shamayim do all the work from start to finish, and tens of people check it over before it is printed.

2   and shteeblehopper - my friend's brother in law works as a translater for artscroll as a side job, and he is part of 60+ Artscroll Kollel. apparently they really have the top of the top combing through it. It must cost them thousands... - cffAug 02  '12 at 17:52

If the Gemorrah was supposed to be difficult to understand, it would have been written in Hebrew.

1   I'm not joking. It was written in Aramaic because at the time more Jews understood Aramaic than Hebrew. - dashJul 30  '12 at 22:02

1   If every big Gadol is behind Artscroll, then who are we to claim that it isn't good? Even R' Shach, who was the only one who wasn't so pleased with the idea, at the end of his lifetime did say that he knows that so much good will come out of it. Out of the 96,000 ppl at the siyum last night, would it be so bold to say that atleast HALF finished Shas only because of the fact that they have the English? - cffAug 02  '12 at 17:50
